Current Students Thesis Research for RPg Students Pursuing a research degree is a significant undertaking. This summary provides RPg students with policy and procedural guidelines on thesis research. Thesis Submission Procedure

The same margin should be used throughout a thesis The PhD thesis is conducted under the supervision of a thesis committee composed of at least three faculty members, one of whom would be designated the thesis supervisor and concurrently also the committee chair. At least one member is required to have the experience of successfully supervised one doctoral student Each PhD candidate is required to submit a thesis proposal and to defend the proposal at a public oral examination, normally within one (1) year after satisfying the qualifying requirement. A thesis proposal examination committee consisting of a minimum of four (4) faculty members (including the advisor(s)) should be set up at least six (6) weeks before the date of the thesis proposal
Library Resources
For PhD thesis examinations, upon the recommendations of the department and the school, the HKUST Fok Ying Tung Graduate School shall appoint a PhD TEC to examine the candidate who has expressed the intention of defending the thesis. A PhD TEC shall consist of: A Chairperson from outside the student’s major department; The thesis supervisor(s); · Thesis Submission Procedure.
